Two documentaries on human rights on May 31

Alliance Française de Trivandrum in association with The Embassy of France in India and FILCA organise screening of two documentaries based on human rights on May 31 at Alliance Française de Trivandrum. NGOs working in the field of human rights will also attend.

At 10 a.m. ‘Guerre et santé’ (1996) a film by Michel Vuillermet, will be screened. It depicts how the scale and nature of war has changed. The main victims of war are civilian populations. Beginning in the late 19th century with Henri Dunant, humanitarian action is an attempted response to the harm done by major conflicts. At 11.10 a.m. is the documentary ‘Invente-moi un pays’ (2005) by Catalina Villar. The director asked children learning to live in exile in France to participate in making a short fiction film. The cinema workshop became a place where these children could talk about their memories and become involved in all kinds of discussions about subjects such as racism and religion.
