Try these traditional sweets
Almonds: 250 gm
Sugar: 1 1/2cup
Gree: 1 tsp (for greasing)
Soak the almonds in water for 8-10 hours. Remove skin and grind it in a mixer into a smooth paste. Take a heavy bottom pan. Mix the sugar and almond paste and cook on a low flame stirring continuously until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan. Grease the flat plate and spread the above mixture to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cover with silver foil and leave it aside for about 2-3 hours. When set cut into diamond shapes and serve.
Anjeer dry fruit barfi
Anjeer(dried): 2 cups finely chopped (figs)
Water: 2 cups
Sugar: 4-5 tbsp
Mixed dry fruit finely chopped (almonds, pistachios, cashew nuts): 1 cup
Grated khoya: 3 cups
Ghee: 4 tbsp
Cardamom powder: 2 tsp
Take a heavy bottom pan. Mix the anjeer and sugar and cook until the sugar dissolves. Add the grated khoya and keep stirring continuously.
Heat the ghee. Gently roast the chopped dry fruits and add it to the above mixture. Mix well. Allow the mixture to cool.
Grease a flat plate and spread the mixture into about 1/2 inch thickness. Cover with silver foil and cut into rectangle shapes and serve.SUJATA MALANI
