The Leela, Kovalam and 12 of its chefs came up trumps at the Kerala Culinary Challenge
Twelve chefs at The Leela, Kovalam cooked their way to the top spots at the Kerala Culinary Challenge competitions that were held in the city on May 10 and 11. The Leela, Kovalam has also bagged the prestigious ‘Best Culinary Establishment' award for the third consecutive year. Chef Anil Sharma won the ‘Best Chef' of the event and also the silver medals for ‘Hot cooking: fish, chicken and rice. Chef Abhinav Kaushik won the silver medal for ‘Dress the Cake,' ‘Bread and Pastry Display' and ‘Plated Desserts.' Chef Dhaval Dedhia won the gold medal for ‘Plated Dessert' and the silver medal in ‘Dress the Cake.'
The silver medal for ‘Barbeque' went to chef Arun Nair. Chef Regimon won the bronze medal for ‘Kerala cuisine.' Chef Suresh N. won the bronze medal for ‘Hot cooking: rice,' while chef Venketeshan won the bronze medals for ‘Hot cooking: chicken and fish.' Bronze medals for ‘Hot cooking: fish' went to chef Renjith and chef Nickey. Chef Raju L. won the bronze medal ‘Hot cooking: chicken and fish.' Chef Ansari won the silver medal for ‘Hot cooking: chicken' (Student Category) and Chef Ratheesh won the bronze medal in the fruit and vegetable carving.
