Dancer Protiti Roy will give first solo performance this Sunday
If you want to give that artistic twist to your Sunday evening, enjoy an Odissi performance by the young dancer Protiti Roy.
A disciple of Guru Mayadhar Raut, she will give her first solo performance at the India International Centre at 6.30 p.m. on March 1. Protiti has been learning classical dance for the past seven years.
An alumnus of Delhi Public School, Noida, and Modern School, Barakhamba Road, she has won recognition for her skills in classical dance. Protiti is also a part of the dance team of National Law School of India University, Bangalore, where she is a first year LLB student.
Protiti has danced on different stages in Delhi, including the IIC and Muktadhara Auditorium. A highlight of her career so far is a performance of the Dashavatar with Guru Madhumita Raut at the IIC. The performance was accompanied by a slide show on the ten avatars of Vishnu.
Protiti’s performance on Sunday will comprise pieces choreographed by Guru Mayadhar Raut, based on the Krishna legends. The items will portray the bhakti rasa in Mangalacharan, shringara rasa in Lalita Lavanga Lata, and the veer rasa in Dashavatar.
