The thrill of grills

Grills are almost always synonymous with a happy party with friends. In an attempt to bring out the best grills from across the country, The Oberoi is conducting a grill promotion at the Polo Club. The smoky smell hits your nostrils as you enter the Polo Club restaurant.

A variety of meats and vegetables are laid out on skewers being grilled to perfection. We start with tiger prawn grills, served with a hint of lemon and moderately sauced. The chef says: “Grilling seafood is very difficult. The dish may be completely spoiled if it is undercooked, or burns up too fast.”

Another highlight is the tenderloin skewer served with an in-house spinach accompaniment.

Soft and tender, the dish is tangy, with a slight garnish of sweet thrown in for good measure. The spinach accompaniment is light on the palate and is delightful. Another must try item is the sweet and sour pork belly. One bite, and we reached gastronomic heaven. The meat seemed like it offered multiple layers, it was soft and redefined the clichéd “melt in the mouth” sensation. Each bite offered a different taste. The New Zealand lamb chops are extremely spicy and form part of the must-try list. If you think a grill session would offer nothing of interest to vegetarians, you are mistaken. The teriyaki shikate and tofu cannot be missed. The mushrooms are sautéed and taste excellent, while the tofu is soft and acts as a good counterbalance to the smokiness of the mushroom.

We finish the meal with a portion of a chocolate cake filled with molten chocolate and served with vanilla ice cream. It is gooey and tastes superb. The promotion is on till February 24.Call 25585858.
