THEATRE The thirteenth edition of the theatre festival ‘Bharath Rang Mahotsav'
T he ‘Bharath Rang Mahotsav', the international theatre festival, is coming to Chennai this year. The 12-year-old festival, by the National School of Drama, has grown to become the largest and one of the most significant theatre festivals of Asia. It will be held from January 11 to 20, at the Chennai Museum Theatre and Sir Mutha Venkata Subbarao Concert Hall, and will see 19 plays from both national and international theatre groups.
There will be two performances every evening - at 6 p.m., the first performance will be staged at the Museum Theatre, and the second one will begin at the Sir Mutha Venkata Subbarao at 7.45 p.m. The next day morning at 10.30 a.m., the two groups that performed will meet the audience for an open interaction. This director meet will be conducted by Sadanand Menon and Pralayan. There will also be an exhibition on ‘Theatre'.
There are eight international plays from France, Iran, China, Korea, Argentina, England, Poland, Nepal, and eleven Indian plays at the festival.
