The Sinatra Doctrine was the term the former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev used to describe their policy to allow the neighbouring Warsaw Pact countries to handle their own affairs. The term alluded to Frank Sinatra’s song ‘My Way’.

Sinatra was fondly called Ol’ blue eyes, the Chairman of the board, and The Voice.

He was the leader of the Rat Pack, comprising actors such as Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
