Some tempting festive hampers

‘Mithai’ used to be the buzzword around festivals, especially Diwali when the sun begins to mellow down and the appetite for sweets increases. Now, though, like all things Indian, sweets too have evolved from the kadhai of the halwai to the baker’s oven.

Driving the trend are companies like Britannia, which brings you “Shubh Kaamnayein”, a range of biscuits, premium cookies and cakes. The special edition for 2008 is a collection named Britannia Premium Assorted Cookies. It contains ingredients like cranberry, butterscotch, honey and almond. Besides, the Britannia Classic Hampers contain an assortment of the company’s popular brands like Good Day, Treat, Jim Jam, Bourbon and Little Hearts. The packaging is just as interesting, with tray packs and tins with calligraphy, brush strokes and symbols.

Meanwhile, Café Coffee Day presents a festival hamper for coffee lovers. Available till December at all Café Coffee Day outlets, the hamper is described as ideal “for coffee connoisseurs who are “unabashed about enjoying the good things in life”.
