The heat is merciless and one way to beat the heat is to load up on liquids. And what if the liquids are fun? Here are a few recipes you can try at home and surprise the family.

MANGO LASSI

Ingredients

Mango pulp: 1 cup

Curd: 3 cups

Water: 1 cup

Milk: 1 cup

Sugar: Half cup

Finely ground pistachio: Quarter cup

Rose water: 1 tbsp

For garnishing:

Pistachio: 1 tsp

Curd: 1tbsp

Method

Put all the ingredients in a mixie jar and run on high speed. Garnish with one tbsp curd and pistachio just before serving.

COLD FRUIT PUNCH

Ingredients

Orange juice: 1 cup

Apple juice: Half cup

Water:1 cup

Piece of ginger: Half inch long

Cinnamon powder: 2 pinches

Nutmeg powder: 1 pinch

Cloves: 2

Grated jaggery: 1 tsp grated

Lemon juice: 1 tsp

Orange slices and apple slices for decoration

Lemon leaves: Half tsp

Method

Add lemon leaves, jaggery, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger in water, boil the entire content and filter the decoction. Now add both the fruit juices and boil again. Add lemon juice and pour into serving glasses. Decorate with apple and orange slices before serving.

GOOSEBERRY DRINK

Ingredients

Gooseberry juice: 4 tbsp

Asafoetida powder: Quarter tsp

Cumin powder: Quarter tsp

Water: 2 glasses

Salt to taste

Honey: 1 tbsp

Method

Heat water, put two tsp gooseberry juice in two glasses each. Add salt and cumin powder, asafoetida powder and pour hot water. Stir and drink.

It is a healthy drink.

COLOURFUL CURD

Whipped curd: 300 ml curd

Chat masala: Half tsp

Pomegranate seeds: 1 cup

Grated cucumber: 1 cup

Plums: 12-14

For tempering:

Oil: 2 tsp

Red chilli powder: 1 tsp

Method

Place whipped curd in a deep serving bowl. Squeeze grated cucumber and remove its water. Add salt to the cucumber and then mix into curd. Also add the pomegranate seeds and the plums. Sprinkle the chat masala. Mix gently.

Heat the oil and add the chilli powder and allow the chilli to burn slightly. Put off the heat and pour over the curd.
