EVENT Ustad Aashish Khan, son of the legendary Ali Akbar Khan, will be in the city for a concert

L egends of India will feature a sarod recital by Ustad Aashish Khan, a performance by music ensemble New Shanti, an Indo jazz group led by Ustad Aashish Khan and a book launch of The Ekkos Clan by Sudipto Das will be held on August 3 at B Flat, Indiranagar. Aashish Khan will be accompanied by Arijit Tagore on tabla and pakhawaj. The event is being held in aid of Bangalore Kidney Foundation.

Ustad Aashish Khan, is a third generation stalwart from the lineage of musicians of the Maihar-Seniya gharana. He is the son of Padma Vibhushan-awardee Ali Akbar Khan and the grandson of Padma Vibhushan-awardee Baba Allauddin Khan.

Aashish Khan’s music ensemble comprise of Aashish Khan, Shiraz Ali Khan on the sarod, Avijit Sarkar on the drums, Bachospati Chakraborty on the bass guitar, Dishari Chakraborty on the santoor and keyboard, Arindam Bhattacharya and Subholina Sen on Harmony vocals and Arijit Tagore on the pakhawaj and tabla.

Sudipto Das’s debut novel The Ekkos Clan is a contemporary thriller.

Legends of India will be held at Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, behind Indiranagar club, on August 3 at 6 p.m. Tickets are priced at Rs. 250. For details call 9980900660.
