A line-up of special programmes for Deepavali
Zee Tamizh begins the Deepavali Day with Suprabatham at 5 a.m. It is followed by Naagai Mukundan’s speech on “Ganga Snanam”. Sri Jayendra Saraswathi’s Arul Urai follows at 6.30 a.m. For music lovers, there are Valayapatti Subramanian’s nagaswaram recital at 6 a.m. and Aruna Sairam’s vocal recital at 7 a.m. The channel has lined up “Diwali Hits” at 9 a.m., featuring songs from Deepavali releases, and an interview with actor Simbu at 9.30 a.m.
You can watch “Freeya Vidu”, a special show shot on location of Zee Tamizh’s two serials (Rudra and Avalukkendru Oru Manam) at 12.30 p.m.. There will be a special episode of “Anjarai Petti” featuring actor Sathyaraj at 3.30 p.m.
Zee Tamizh’s film-based shows include “Naan Nadhiya Pesugiraen” (an interview with actor Nadhiya) at 1.30 p.m., “Shining Star Vinay” (actor Vinay talks about his college days and film debut) at 8 p.m., “Sonnathum Sollathathum” (actor Priyamani on her favourite persons, holiday destinations and crushes in life) at 8.30 p.m. and “Kalakkal Brothers” (featuring director Venkat Prabhu and actor-music director Premgi) at 2 p.m.
“Pattiyal Diwali Special” at 7.30 p.m. takes a quick look at Deepavali releases.
Besides, the channel telecasts some films, especially for Deepavali.
Jaya TV celebrates Deepavali with an array of programmes, most of which are cinema-based. ‘Madhavan Namma Aalu’ finds the versatile hero chatting with college girls at 8.15 a.m. At 5.30 p.m., the ‘Saroja’ team — Venkat Prabhu, Premgi, Siva and Vaibhav — greets the viewers. ‘Dost Bada Dost’ has been shot in Malaysia, where the team meets Tamil fans. They also share their experiences and the secret behind their success.
“Deepa Oli Virundhaali” will be telecast at 6.03 p.m. today on Makkal TV. Anchors Karthika, Revathi, Aarthi, Yazhini and Alexander will visit viewers’ homes and celebrate the festival with them. The programme includes games and prizes.
Thenkachi Ko. Swaminathan, who carved a niche for himself with his ‘Indru Oru Thagaval’ on AIR, will be featured in “Oorkolam”, as part of the channel’s Deepa Oli mela, at 2 p.m. Join Swaminathan on his nostalgic trip to his native place — watch him meet his childhood friends, visit his school and walk through the streets he played on, as a child.
Makkal echoes the views of innumerable people who are worried about the obscene sequences and violent action scenes that dominate television today, in its Domeel Tholaikatchi, at 7 p.m. Without any bias, the show will take on such programmes that affect society as a whole.
The special programmes on SS Music include “Ninaithale Inikkum” at 12 noon (S. P. Balasubramaniam and S. P. Sailaja pay tribute to music director M. S. Viswanathan by singing his compositions), “Diwali releases” at 3 p.m. (VJ Rajiv dwells on the releases of 2006 and 2007 which had the cash registers ringing before he focusses his attention on the 2008 releases) and “Spring Once More” at 5 p.m. (interview with playback singer Jency who stages a comeback after a hiatus of 23 years).
