Show respect

People of all age groups like watching TV serials. In most of the serials, women actresses are given stereotyped characters. Their crying makes children feel that women cry as they are not bold enough to face challenges in their lives and get things done by dint of crying. Today's modern woman is not the same as women some years ago. They occupy high positions, make a lot of money thereby supporting their families, and are independent. Their status in the society is on par with men. Why should women roles in TV serials continue to be stereotyped then? Viewers like serials with good stories and women need not necessarily be shown in bad light. Though such serials are sheer illusion, it is unwise to portray women as vulnerable and docile and also subservient to men. It is high time women characters were given proper regard.
