The shortlist of the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2014 was announced recently. From a longlist comprising 15 books, the jury chose Book of Destruction by Anand (translated by Chetana Sachidanandan), Goat Days by Benyamin (translated by Joseph Koyippalli), Chronicle of a Corpse Bearer by Cyrus Mistry, How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia by Mohsin Hamid, The Blind Man's Garden by Nadeem Aslam and Island of a Thousand Mirrors by Nayomi Munaweera. The DSC Prize for South Asian Literature carries an award of US $50,000 for the winner to honour the best writing about the South Asian region.
