VJ Anusha Dandekar loves to talk
Dressed in a white dress, with hardly any make up, Anusha Dandekar looks very unlike the posters of herself displayed at Oasis Mall. The MTV VJ was in the city on the weekend to launch the furnishing range Laid by MTV in partnership with Portico New York. Things are a bit disorienting. People at the mall want to take pictures with her, photographers want her to pose for them and at the same time scribes are waiting in line for interviews. Though she tries hard to accommodate everyone, the stress shows. Sitting on the cot that has displayed the productsshe is launching, Anusha says: “It’s great to be recognised. You know appreciation is all a part and parcel of life. Can we finish fast for I have another appointment?”
So you shoot the first question that pops in your head - Do you ever get tired of talking? “No. I love talking. There’s no personality change, I am what you see on screen.”
Being a VJ is a challenging job “for you have to think quicker than normal, especially when there is a crowd, like say reality shows and stuff.” According to Anusha, VJs are an intelligent batch. “Being a VJ is just like any job. You work so hard but a certain section just undermines you. But to be a VJ means to be well-read about fashion, music and all other aspects. I believe that no one working with MTV is unintelligent,” says the youngster, who will soon be touring with Shahrukh Khan for his live shows.
She has also acted in a couple of films – “Virudh” with Amitabh and “Anthony Kaun hain” – but “I do not plan anything. I let life take its own course,” says the VJ who is working with her siblings for a music album. And about her future she says: “I don’t know where I am going to be tomorrow. You know predictable gets to be very boring. It’s the unseen and the unknown in life that adds zing to your life,” she smile.SHILPA SEBASTIAN R.
