In India, the quality of healthcare has on one hand improved tremendously but its accessibility has reduced drastically. After years of battle, the Government has given the green signal for generic drugs. Only now will there be a relief for the poor. But even so, few villages in the country have proper hospitals for common ailments. Even city Government hospitals lack basic facilities from beds to sanitation. The Government must shift its attention to the rural sector. It will succeed only when the rural poor no longer scamper to cities for treatment.
