Although the film industry is an entertainment-cum-commercial medium, it also has a responsibility. Glamorous superstars should co-operate with the Government in the interest of their ardent fans at large. Ordinary film fans mistake illusion for reality and have a tendency to ape their beloved stars.
The stars also leave a lasting impression in tender minds. If the actors are firm in their resolve not to involve in drinking and smoking scenes how can directors film such indecent scenes? The argument that the proposed ban would hamper creativity and success of films appears absurd. The Government should adopt a carrot-and-stick policy in dealing with this issue. If the film fraternity brushes aside the gentle persuasion by Government then it should be made to oblige through strict implementation of stringent laws
