The posters of Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla, is a bait; the title, backdrop, et al have caught the imagination of those who have seen the posters.
And that is what the designers behind it, Sreejith N. and his design firm Old Monks, hoped to achieve.
“When V.K. Prakash (VKP), the director of Natholi… and Shankar Ramakrishnan the script writer for the movie told me the title of the movie, I was at first, taken aback. It was an unusual name for a movie. But then, when the duo explained the concept to me, the name seemed to fit the bill and I was hooked. We wanted to reel in the audience’s attention right from the title design. When you hear Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla , the images that come to mind are “quirky”. We have tried to capture a surrealistic feel in our design as the title design has to reflect or give the viewers a hint of what to expect from the film. Normally, we manipulate fonts to suit our needs for the title but for Natholi… , we designed the title ourselves.
To complement the ‘fishy’ title, the team brought out illustrated pictures of the movie’s lead pair – Kamalini Mukherjee and Fahadh Faasil, which features them underwater, as teasers.
Old Monk had designed the posters for Bachelor Party and Spirit . They are now working on the posters of ABCD , Anju Sundarikal and Amen .
