EVENT Anna University gears up for its techno-management fest

N ew Year celebrations begin at Anna University with the annual international techno-management festival Kurukshetra 2011. The countdown to the much-awaited ‘The Battle of Brains', to be held from February 2 to 5, has started.

With a few of the online events already heralding the battle, Kurukshetra 2011 is all set to take Chennai by storm with an expected participation of 1,50,000 students from over 300 colleges.

The workshops and events pack in the right mixture of fun and action, besides picking the participants' brains and testing their logical skills.

For all those with a great eye for wildlife and an interest in photography, here is a chance to hone their skills at a Wildlife Photography Workshop conducted by Rathika Ramasamy, the first woman wildlife photographer in the country.

And for gaming freaks, Kurukshetra offers its exclusive PC gaming event — Gamindrome.

The quiz-whizzes have a lot to look forward to with three big quizzes lined up — 'Biz Quiz', ‘Sci Tech Quiz' and the signature ‘Open Quiz'.

As in the previous editions, the biz quiz and the open quiz will be conducted by popular quiz masters Navin Jayakumar and Gopal Kidao.

Moving on, the E-summit is an ideal opportunity for all those wannabe Zuckerbergs to learn about the travails and challenges of entrepreneurship from the who's who of India Inc.

What's special about Kurukshetra is that each edition has a signature event which is unique to it. The event for K-11 is the Barkamp which will see corporates and students thrash out issues at the same forum.

Those who can't make it to the College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), on the day of the action, need not worry. With virtual participation being introduced this year, students can take part in Kurukshetra right from their own campuses.

All in all, Kurukshetra 2011 is about learning and enjoying, winning and losing, but, most important, it is about gaining knowledge and getting hands-on experience in a fun way.
