How did you get interested in films?
I was attracted towards cinema from a young age but I was keen on direction. I pursued my dream and joined Rayong Film Academy in Thailand. I was there for two years specialising in direction, cinematography and editing.
Why have you chosen an action film for a debut?
I love action films. But I have shot it differently. I worked on the story board for nearly four years. I completed the shooting in 78 days but the post-production work took more time than the shooting.
What are the highlights of the film?
You will be fascinated to see the different types of weapons shown in “Porkkalam”. I did research on them for three months. The film has seven villains (Lal, Biju Menon, Sampath, Ponvanan, Adeeswar (from Burma), Nagendran and Tinnu Anand) and has been shot by three cameramen (Devaraj, D. Devan and Mahendran).
Whom do you want to give credit for the film?
To all the people associated with the film. Actors Kishore, Sathyan, Smitha, editor Arun E.M., music director Rohit Kulkarni and even those who served tea to the unit members.S. R. ASHOK KUMAR
