Sonam Kapoor's on a high, with movies and endorsements galore

Despite her debut being a debacle and the second one failing to make a mark at the box office, Sonam Kapoor is a star. She has a couple of movies in her kitty, along with ad campaigns, and she talks to us in between shots, as she works out in the gym. “I am going to be on the treadmill now, and I'll talk to you as I warm up,” she informs. All right! So, this is how she managed to lose all those extra pounds for “Saawariya”. For those of you who didn't know, Sonam was 90 kg when Sanjay Leela Bhansali told her she was going to be his next lead.

Talking about her latest endorsement for Anant Diamond Jewellery, she says: “I only endorse products I would use or wear, and you can't go wrong with diamonds and solitaires.” Her favourite piece of jewellery from the Anant range is a pair of solitaire earrings. “My other favourites include my mom's jewellery and ethnic pieces.” The pretty young thing who has a distinctive dress sense, says her style mantra is ‘to be comfortable and have fun'.

We move on from favourite clothes and accessories to favourite actors — and, of course, her daddy dearest, Anil Kapoor, tops the list, along with Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett. If she were to act in a remake of her father's film, she would like to essay Tabu's role in “Virasat”. “I like playing roles that have depth and conflict, and which motivate,” she adds. Sonam's other favourites among her dad's films include “Woh Saat Din”, “Lamhe”, “Mr. India” and “Pukaar”.

As most daughters, the young actor too gets all excited as she talks about Kapoor Sr. “He's a great dad. Lets me live my life and has given me all the freedom,” she gushes.

Last seen in “Delhi 6”, her second release, Sonam will next be seen in “Ayesha” and “I Hate Love Stories”. Anil Kapoor's home production, “Ayesha” is the desi version of Jane Austen's Emma. “It's a romantic comedy, and quite exciting.” The suave Abhay Deol will play her love interest in this, while “I Hate Love Stories” will see her pairing with Imran Khan.

Considering she started her filmi journey on the other side of the camera — she wanted to write and direct films — how has the journey been in front of it? “It has been a short and exciting journey. I have put in hard work. It's a lot of fun, and I love my job,” she signs off.
