Singer Nikita Nigam has arrived finally
Three years ago, Sonu Nigam had a live concert in Delhi. Before he started, he sent his sister Nikita Nigam to get the audience “warmed up” . The listeners didn’t want any one except Sonu but as Nikita started crooning Sunidhi Chauhan’s famous songs, the audiences swayed with her and the mood was set.
Since then, Nikita has come a long way. Now she doesn’t sing only to ‘set’ the stage but performs as an individual artiste. Nikita, who started her singing career two years ago, has worked with every known music director in Bollywood now; Anu Malik, Pritam, Sandeep Chowta, M.M. Kreem, Mohan Sitara, Deepak Pandit, Raju Singh. She has sung in Bollywood movies like Pyare Mohan, Kaisey Kahein, Marigold to name a few. Shankar-Ehsan-Loy have roped her in for their forthcoming film Shortcut. The peppy track of the popular daily soap Chhoona Hai Aasman on Star One, is the one she is getting pretty popular with. “It has a youth feel to it, so it has clicked with the new generation,” she says.
Her next album is with Vishal-Shekhar. She has even scored hits down South in Telugu movies like Super, Shree, Political Rowdy and Bujjigadu. Born to Agam Kumar Nigam and Shobha Nigam, successful singers in their own right for the past four decades, currently Nikita is taking music lessons from Guru Sunil Bargaonkar in Mumbai.
