Get set for evenings filled with music and dance at the seven-day-long annual Nishagandhi dance and music fete, as some of the country’s famed dancers and musicians take to the stage at Nishagandhi auditorium, from January 20. Each day’s performance starts with a melam (6 p.m.).

After the inaugural ceremony on January 20 , catch a choreographed show titled ‘Naman’ (6.30 p.m.), a medley of Mohiniyattom, Kathak, Odissi, Bharatanatyam and Manipuri, choreographed and directed by danseuse Jayaprabha Menon. This will be followed by Mohiniyattom by yesteryear actor Parvathy Jayaram (7 p.m.) and a group performance of Kathak (7.30 p.m.) by Vikram Iyengar and the artistes of Ranan India, Kolkata.

Ghatam S. Karthick and group take to the stage on January 21 . Mohiniyattom by Smitha Rajan follows. Kuchipudi artiste Amritha Lahiri dazzles the stage on January 22 followed by Odissi by Sharmila Biswas. On January 23 is Bharatanatyam by Urmila Satyanarayanan and a ‘meditative ensemble’ lead by Pandit Ramesh Narayan. Musician duo Krishnakumar and Binni Krishnakumar lead a fusion music concert on January 24 . Aloka Kanungo performs Odissi on January 25 and Amusana Devi performs Manipuri. The fete comes to a close on January 26 with a ghazal concert by Penaz Masani. The programmes are at 6.45 p.m. and 7.45 p.m.
