Event Siruthuli organises a summer camp for school children
Siruthuli holds a week-long summer camp for school children. The camp aims to educate children about the importance of Nature and conservation. It will be on from April 23 to 28.
On day one, participants will be taken on a visit to Tamil Nadu Agriculture University to be introduced to the world of agriculture. The following day, the Chief Conservator of Forests and the Curator of the Gass Forest Museum will show the participants around the museum.
Movies on Nature and wildlife, trekking and bird-watching expeditions await the children the following day at Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology & Natural History (SACON), Anaikkatti.
Children can learn all about recycling PET bottles during a visit to PET recycling units on April 26. There is a tour along the Noyyal in store for the next day. Students will be taken to the seven tanks and anaicuts of the River all the way to its origin at Kooduthurai.
They will also be taken to Nandangarai check dam and Siruvani Water Treatment Plant. On the final day, participants get an opportunity to learn about transplanting saplings from the soil into bags, creating a Mother bed and more at the Siruthuli Tree Park.
The camp will conclude with a fun-filled felicitation function for the participants at Siruthuli Noyyal Life Centre. There will be cultural programmes, quizzes and more. Participation certificates and prizes will be distributed the same day. For details, call 0422-2318222 / 333.
