Theatre doyen late Qadir Ali Baig wrote this classic play Resham Ki Dor in the late 1970s and had produced it as one of very first teleplays. To mark his 25th death anniversary, Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation will stage Resham Ki Dor on June 12 and 13. This version is produced and directed by Mohammad Ali Baig and will involve Kalbeliya dancers, live folk singers from Mewar, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, stuntmen and 33 actors. Baig dons the role of Maharaja Vikramaditya, Lakshmi Manchu plays Maharani Karmavati and Arif Zakaria plays emperor Humayun. Shankar Melkote, Rashmi Seth, S.A.Majeed, Javed Kamaal, Anwar Ali and others play other important roles. Sets and lighting are by M.S. Sathyu, aesthetics by Begum Razia Baig and costumes by Vinita Pittie. The play will be staged at HICC. Entry is by donor cards of Rs. 500, 300 and 100, available at A.A. Hussain’s (Abids), Ofen (road no. 10 Banjara Hills), Music World (Banjara Hills), Walden (Begumpet) and Sangeet Sagar (Paradise circle).
