REACHING OUT Remi Boinot

Two of Remi Boinot's installations will be put at Museum Auditorium

French artist Remi Boinot's multimedia exhibition will begin at the Museum Auditorium from March 22. To let us discover a novel approach towards art, Remi Boinot will showcase two of his recent works, `The nephew of the oarsman' and `Wedding & Banquet.' Visitors can see and experience a new form of contemporary art that stimulates all senses and triggers surprising emotions and feelings. An artist, Remi also uses other media like video, photography, sound, writing and stage setting to convey his observation of cultural interactions during his travels. His attempt is to give a total experience for the viewers; an experience that would involve all the senses. He does this through the medium of art. That is why the installation art has become his way of expression, which enables him to use all the standards of expression and touch the spectator. Remi has already exhibited the work in France, which was great success. `The nephew of the oarsman' features an installation in a totally darkened room. The viewer stands before a curved screen. An enigmatic character stares at you while slowly coming down from top of the screen. He mumbles some words that sound like drop of water falling on a surface in complete silence.`Wedding and banquet' depicts a table and a a pile of coconuts equipped with headphones. The sound heard evokes the typical ambience of a wedding party. Remi Boinot will conduct an art workshop for the students of College of Fine Arts on March 24. The exhibition is being organised by Alliance Française de Trivandrum in association with the French Embassy in India and Department of Museums and Zoo. It is open to the public from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Contact 2320666/6578808
