INTERVIEW Prabhu Deva talks about the ABCD experience
ABCD: Any Body Can Dance has opened to a decent response at the box office. Director Remo D’Souza and lead actor Prabhu Deva, along with other members of the cast, have been promoting the film.
“It is my dream project and having Prabhu sir is like a dream come true,” said Remo. Talking about the making of ABCD , Remo said, “It is a proper 3D film as I expect quality over quantity. I don’t want it to be a 100 crore hit. Appreciation for my work is my first priority.”
Asked about his popularity as a director, Prabhu said, “I get more offers for directing a film than acting due to good business done by my Wanted and Rowdy Rathore at the box office. But I tell you, I am not good at it, Remo is a better director in comparison to me.”
Excerpts from the interview:
Do you really feel that a person who is not good at dancing will dance once he watches this film?
Yes, I really feel so. Our team has worked hard. And about dance anybody can dance it just depends how you dance! (he winks)
Can ABCD bring out contemporary dance culture in the India as a new trend in Indian cinema?
ABCD will definitely help. But you know people here already love dancing. I think it can promote dancing culture rather than bringing out.
How was your experience working with fresh faces in this film?
These people are too good. I agree they are fresh faces but you see all of them have too much talent in them. I loved working with them. Even I wasn’t that good when I was of their age.
You are called The Indian Michael Jackson. Can we expect another Prabhu Deva to emerge in future considering there are so many dance-based reality shows
Oh! There are many. Many people dance so well. If they get a chance to show their talent you can see many people dancing better than me.
There is a lot of politics going around films these days. Vishwaroopam is a recent example of that. What’s your take on this issue?
I don’t want to comment on it. Enough has already been said on this issue. Saying anything on this would be publicising the issue more and may sound as a trenchant argument.
What are your plans?
I am going to direct Shahid Kapur in Rambo Rajkumar .
I get more offers for directing a film than acting due to good business done by my Wanted and Rowdy Rathore at the box office.
