ST. ALOYSIOUS COLLEGE, COX TOWN
The Hangout: Thom’s Bakery
The Location: About 10 minutes away from the college
Rush Hour: Usually in the evenings, after college
What’s to love: Despite all the newer and more alluring bakeries and cafes that have come up in the area, the students of this college vouch that there cannot be a better place to chill out at than good ole’ Thoms.
This is one of the oldest and most prominent landmarks Bangalore East can boast and there’s no denying that the boys of this college are mighty thrilled that they spend a good deal of their free time here. The boys come here more for the pastries than anything else. The chocolate doughnut you get here are the yummiest! These doughnuts and éclairs literally sell like hot cakes so the students ensure they get here as soon as they are done. Also, since there are a host of other schools and colleges situated in the same locality, there’s always competition!
Then you also have the homemade potato, banana and tapioca chips that are a favourite. The hot garlic bread is to die for, the students say. And what’s best about Thoms is that it is the most affordable bakery in the area!
The staff is efficient and friendly. And there is ample parking space available around Thoms.
What’s not to: The place is always teeming with people. It just doesn’t make sense to come here on a Saturday afternoon when everyone has his own unending shopping list!
Alternative: The college grounds and the campus wall!
