CHAT As the Hindi remake of Bangla serial Khela readies, its lead actor Sanjeeda Sheikh gives a peek
Hindi filmmakers have made a killing by remaking Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. Some have taken an even easier path by merely dubbing South Indian films into Hindi.
Now it seems that the trend of remaking a regional hit is catching on in television as well.
Zee TV is now charting new territory by remaking the Bangla serial Khela (Game), shown on Zee Bangla about a decade ago.
Called Badalte Rishton Ki Dastan in its Hindi avatar, the serial stars Sanjeeda Sheikh in the pivotal role with Additi Gupta, Kiran Karmarkar and Abhinav Shukla providing support.
Says Sanjeeda, “The show has enough elements to keep audiences hooked. My character is Meera, an independent, strong-willed girl. It’s the story of one woman standing up for another, where love and unity triumph against evil.”
The serial is shot in Delhi, Dhanaulti and Rishikesh, which Sanjeeda feels will give the serial an authentic touch.
Sanjeeda, who loves dancing, and has won in dance reality show Nach Baliye-3 with Aamir Ali, now her husband, is looking forward to showing her skills in the serial too. “It is a family serial, and I am sure there must be some wedding or sangeet sequences in which I will get a chance to dance.”
She says Madhuri Dixit is the best dancer in the film industry. “She dances from the heart. I also like Shilpa Shetty.”
The show airs Monday to Friday on Zee TV at 10 p.m.
