Performance of Kichadi Theatre on March 30

This year’s edition of Kichadi Theatre is here, as part of The World Theatre Day (March 27) — Chennai Chapter. The Cookbook, an amateur playwriting event, provides the material for the Kichadi Theatre performances. This year, seven playwrights — Shreekumar Varma, Rajiv Rajendra, Shekinah Jacob, Sunandha Ragunathan, Jayashree Venkatesan, Naren Weiss and Meera Sitaraman — will write a 10-min play featuring three or four characters each, in a week’s time.

As many as seven directors, including Michael Muthu (Boardwalkers), Vinod Anand, and Amit Singh (ASAP) have been chosen. On March 26, the directors will draw lots for the scripts submitted. Based on the cast of the script, the directors will then pick lots for the actors for their play.

Once the teams have been formed, they will be given one day — March 29 — to rehearse their play. The teams will perform the following day, March 30, at the Auditorium Edouard Michelin at the Alliance Francaise of Madras. The shows will be held at 3.15 p.m. and at 7.15 p.m.

Tickets for the show are priced at Rs. 200 and are available on and at the venue on the day of the show from noon. For details and tickets, call 98840-73737.
