“Know Your India” is full of general information on the country
From a glossary of the national anthem to a list of Indian Presidents and Prime Ministers, “Know Your India”, by Rahul V. Karad, has it all. It was recently released at the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samithi in New Delhi.
The event started with an address by Savita Singh, Director, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samithi, followed by a speech by Vishwanath D. Karad, Executive President of MIT Group of Institutions, Pune.
“The book doesn’t contain anything new or unusual. It is just that we have attempted to compile everything together so that it is convenient for the readers. With this book now, people wouldn’t have to search here and there,” said Karad. It is a one-stop source of information on the country, and making no grand claims, it provides in-depth information within its covers, he added.
The book, starting with a sketch of Bapu’s life, also contains vital topics like how to fold the national flag, something most citizens are unaware of. It is a storehouse of information, providing a historical context as well as a geographical overview. It will be useful to both the serious scholar and the casual reader.
It costs only Rs.20, “ensuring that it’s easily accessible to everybody.”
