Directed by Fatih Akin and winner of the Audience Award at the 2001 Tromsø International Film Festival, “In July” is the touching story of a shy young college professor, Daniel. He is told by the mysterious enigmatic July that he will meet the woman of his dreams if he buys a Mayan ring from her. Her prediction comes true, and Daniel is drawn into a tumultuous romantic quest that begins in Germany, traverses all of Europe and ends in the arms of his true love.

The Island

In this sci-fi action film from director Michael Bay, Lincoln Six-Echo (Ewan McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st Century. Like all the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to “The Island”— reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet — until he discovers to his horror that everything about his existence is a lie and that he is actually more valuable dead than alive.

Academy Award winner Kevin Costner stars as one of five young men about to graduate from college in the summer of 1971, who take one last, wild trip across West Texas before facing their lives as adults, which will include marriage, careers and service in the war in Vietnam, in this heartfelt and adventurous coming-of-age story.
