Meet actor-director Parmeet Sethi

Fifteen years ago, Parmeet Sethi debuted as an actor in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. The groom who then lost Kajol to Shah Rukh Khan, is now counting down to the release of his first directorial, Badmaash Company. “It feels like homecoming, to make my direction debut for the same Yash Raj Films,” says Parmeet.

In Badmaash Company, Shahid Kapur is the brain behind four con jobs that a group of friends take up to make quick money. Their con jobs are different from that of Dhoom and Bunty Aur Babli, says Parmeet.

“ Dhoom was fuelled by action while Bunty Aur Babli was about small-time con artistes. Badmaash Company has white collared con jobs that are believable and well researched,” he says.

In six days

Parmeet wrote the story and screenplay in six days. “I had previously written a film pegged on events that have a bearing on people against a certain political system. We put it on hold since the situation was not conducive to make the film. Then one day Adi (producer Aditya Chopra) asked me if I wanted to make a fun film and Badmaash Company was born.” It's shot in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangkok, New York and Philadelphia. Next, Parmeet is toying with three ideas for his second film.
