Chat Esha Deol talks of marriage, walking the ramp, her choice of roles and her dance ballet
Today phrases like ‘made for each other’ and ‘soul mate’ seem a tad overused, but spending time with Esha Deol and her businessman husband Bharat Takhtani, you can’t help but think they make a perfect fit. The couple relived the memories of their vows so recently taken, at the launch of Azva – Wedding jewellery by the World Gold Council at The Oberoi recently.
The couple, who also walked the ramp on day four of the India Bridal Fashion Week 2012 for Azva, looked resplendent with Esha in a lehenga showing off a gorgeous Azva necklace and earrings, and Bharat looking just as striking in a sherwani.
Describing her experience walking the ramp for the fashion week Esha says, “It was a wonderful experience. I think they chose us because we had just got married. The whole collection was about the seven vows, and we had just taken ours.”
Now enjoying her married life, Esha has decided to become to become more select in the kind of roles she takes up.
“I’m going to be taking more dignified roles,” she says.
Following in her mother’s footsteps she says, “My dream role would be to play Razia Sultan. I can’t think of a more dignified role than that.”
Sharing her opinion on the rising popularity of destination weddings in India Esha says, “It’s a personal choice whether you want to have a traditional wedding or a beach wedding. I wanted a traditional wedding because I got to sit on my father’s lap. I loved having a traditional temple wedding.”
Esha who is a trained Odissi dancer also let on that she is planning a new project. Though she usually performs a Parampara with her mother, Hema Malini and sister Ahana, this time she is planning dance ballet on her own in a contemporary style. “Today a lot of people are learning dances of different countries like the Salsa, while there are so many different forms of dancing in our own country. People should start learning that.”
