Three-day film festival from March 9

Here is a golden opportunity for film buffs in the city to watch films from Africa. The works of 26 directors promise to give viewers a close look at Africa and her people. The three-day fete comprises six packages. The festival is being organised on the occasion of International Francophonie celebrations by Alliance Française de Trivandrum in association with the French Embassy in India and Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. The films are categorised into `North African childhood' (Enfances du Maghreb), `The initiation' (L'initiation), `Lifelines' (Lignes de vies), `Toys and tames' (Jeux et Jouets) `Animal tales' (Contes animaliers) and `Tales and legends' (Contes et Legends). `Tales and legends,' (Contes et legends), comprising seven animation films, will be screened at 7 p.m. on March 9 at Museum Band in association with Department of Museums & Zoos. The festival of short feature films titled `African Impressions' (Impressions d' Afrique - DVDs) will be screened at 10 a.m. on March 10 and 11 at Kalabhavan. Contact 2320666/ 6578808
