Take a lick off a scoop of Italy’s version of the ice-cream, the gelato, in natural, sugar-free and fat-free flavours at Mama Mia
It is an ice cream parlour that will provide a great reason to cheer for diabetics, heart patients and others who are unable to partake of delicacies like ice creams due to health reasons.
Mama Mia, a Gelato brand has opened a new store in Indiranagar that aims at providing 96 per cent fat-free cream gelato, and fat-free and sugar-free gelatos, that serve as a healthy and tasty option. The store is tucked away in a small by-lane and can seat around 30 people. With soft, cushy sofas and wooden chairs, it manages to create a relaxed ambience. The crowds are not massive, but as one of the staff assures us, “It is gaining more popularity by the day.”
The Mamma Mia Gelato brand claims that it uses only natural ingredients, such as vanilla beans and fruit pulp from Italy. Natasha Agarwal, the CEO of the Mamma Mia group was trained in Italy in the art of making gelato by Chef Daneille Ghisalberti in Bergamo, Italy.
She says, “We use only natural ingredients in our ice creams. Many of the ice creams and gelatos available are very low on fat content, and can be enjoyed by even health-conscious patrons. It can be termed as a sinful delight, minus the sin factor. She adds, “All our products are made from fresh ingredients that help maintain the freshness and quality of the final product.”
This parlour also stocks cheesecakes, Ferrero Rocher chocolates, caramel custard, cookie dough etc. The store also allows patrons to taste samples and choose their flavours. Gelato creams are not the only items on the menu. Gelato thick shakes in flavours like Kit Kat, Black Forest, (a combination of black forest pastry with chocolate gelato) are on the menu. It is rather heavy, but the taste is very natural and is definitely worth a try. Mama Mia Gelato is priced at Rs. 55 per scoop. The sundaes are priced in the range from Rs. 99 to Rs. 149. It is located at 302, 6th main, 4th cross, Indiranagar.
