Eating out Mezzo at Avenue Regent is hosting a tapas and steak festival
Steaks are back in town, and this time accompanied by an assortment of delicious starters. The tapas and steaks festival on at the Mezzo rest-o-bar of the Avenue Regent hotel boasts some of the all time favourites from the festival menu of the hotel.
The lounge-like atmosphere inside Mezzo, with soft lighting and soothing music, provides the right ambience for a hot meal. According to Shyamlal S., assistant food and beverage manager, the festival is a return to the familiar before the hectic rush of the Christmas season kicks in. “Steaks are among the favourites of our regular patrons and this time we decided to have some popular starters accompanying them for variety. We are having it as an a la carte dinner only affair, and there is a complementary glass of wine on offer with the steaks as well,” he says.
The menu offers enough variety for multiple tryouts, with the starters ranging from tuna croquets and barbeque chicken winglets to beef polpetta and the popular bacon wrapped prunes, which provide a dash of sweetness to the flavour of the bacon.
Chef M.V. Benny has obviously put some work into the main course as well, as steak with red wine reduction returns as one of the headliners of the steak menu. Other highlights on the menu include parmesan chicken steak and bacon wrapped tenderloin, a fillet steak wrapped with bacon and served with grain mustard.
Pork lovers can also indulge in roast pork ribs with herb sauce while those who wish for something a little more exotic can sample the polocorn gamberoni with cream brandy sauce, made of chicken breast stuffed with prawns and spinach and then poached and topped with cream brandy sauce. While not exactly a steak in the regular sense, the abundance of mashed potatoes served with the polocorn gamberoni helps soak up the sauce and serves as plentiful topping for the chicken.
The festival is on for dinner from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. till December 1 at Mezzo.
