For the perfect grill, you must go to Oberoi

Grills are almost always synonymous with celebrations and happiness. The balmy weather seems to disappear as one enters the Polo club at the Oberoi, where the Global grills promotion is underway till February 28. We start with excellent tiger prawn grills and portions of quail, lamb and grilled vegetables. The preparations were grilled to perfection and tasted good. The quail brought out a slight smoky aftertaste which added to the flavour. The tenderloin was a little dry, but the meat was tender and the taste managed to banish any misgivings. The eternal favourite — the soft pork belly lived up to its billing. Served with an assortment of sweet sauce, the meat seemed multi-layered and redefined the clichéd melt in the mouth sensation. The thick meaty sausages also deserve a special mention. The sheeh kababs served alongside peeta bread were soft, with a hint of a tanginess and made it to the must try list. If you are vegetarian, you could belt the soft and spicy cottage cheese steaks and the vegetarian skewers

Chef Gautam quips: “It is very important to ensure that we source all our ingredients locally. As far as the grills go, it is very important to ensure that it is not overcooked. You need to be very careful while dealing with seafood items.”

We finish the meal with a portion of a chocolate cake filled with molten chocolate and a garnish of vanilla ice cream. The chocolate bursts out of the cake at some prodding and tastes superb with portions of vanilla ice cream. The promotion is on at the Oberoi till February 28.
