DISCOVERING A NEW SIDE TO HERSELFSameera Reddy

Basking in the success of her newly-released Tamil action movie “Vettai”, actor Sameera Reddy can't stop talking about the response it has received. Known to be a glam girl in Bollywood as well as in the South, she's thrilled to have made an impact as a village belle in “Vettai”.

In a telephonic interview, she says, “I can't be more grateful to my director N. Linguswamy for having cast me in this film. He always has a way of reaching the hearts of the masses through his work and ‘Vettai' is no exception.” About the role she's played, Sameera says, “It pushed me out of my comfort zone. My character was someone who jabbered incessantly. She was fiery, yet cute. That's far removed from the person I am in real life; so it was good to discover a new side to the actor in me.”

Her co-stars were Arya and Madhavan. “Madhavan is great as a person and as an actor and it's always a good experience working with him. Arya is young, dashing and suave, and a lot of fun on the sets,” says Sameera. But what she's looking forward to is her next movie “Tezz”, to be released in April 2012. This Hindi action thriller, directed by Priyadarshan, features an ensemble cast with Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Mohanlal, Kangna Ranaut, Sameera Reddy and Zayed Khan playing major roles.

Says Sameera: “Despite it being an action film of international standard, it has its emotional moments. I'm so into action that it was a lot of fun performing all those stunts, whether it was on the bike or white water rafting! It is also a drama that is all about being able to fight and survive.” Completely in awe, she is convinced that her co-star Anil Kapoor is her lucky charm. “All my films with him have been major hits, so I'm sure this one will be no exception.”

Sameera is in talks with producers for two films in the South while she's signed up for Nagesh Kukunoor's “Yeh Hosla”, a woman-centred film. “It's not easy to be part of different film industries at the same time,” she points out. Work keeps her busy most of the time, but being the fun-loving person she is, she always manages to find a way to relax. She loves exploring new places and indulging in adventure sports such as trekking and scuba diving.
