Green tea powder overcomes its sedate functions to whip up a soothing jelly
A sprinkling of green tea powder and a little patience can soon have you savouring the delicate green tea jelly. The rather plain tea powder comes alive in these cold cubes of jelly.
Made with minimum ingredients, this is a typical Japanese dessert, served usually with seasonal fruits or ice cream.
Green tea jelly
2 tsp green tea powder
6 tsp water (to mix with green tea powder)
100 gms sugar
3 tsp agar agar
2 tbsp sufi beans sauce
Some seasonal fruits
Take a sauce pan, put one litre water, sugar and agar-agar. Boil till the sugar melts, in low heat.
Add a mixture of green tea powder and water.
After boiling, take the mixture in a bowl or a platter and put it in refrigerator for two hours. Take out when it sets, cut it into cubes. Put sufi beans sauce and serve.
