Event Dance and world music will be part of the Splendor of Masters festival on January 25

The Banyan Tree, an organisation involved in promoting and showcasing India’s performing arts, is holding the fourth edition of its annual Splendor of Masters festival on January 25 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall at 7 pm.

This year, for the first time ever, the event will feature a dance presentation, Samanvaya, in addition to the regular musical ensemble. This creative experiment performed by Madhavi Mudgal and Alarmel Valkli combines two distinctly different dance forms — Bharatanatya and Odissi and aims to explore them within a common framework.

This will be followed by a world music ensemble featuring maestros from India, Egypt and Tunisia. The performers include Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt ( Mohan veena), Prasana ( electric guitar), Mohamad Farghaly (oud), Hamada Farghaly (qanoon), Rakesh Chaurasia (flute) , Subhankar Banerjee (tabla) and Ayman Boujlida (drums).

Donor cards of Rs. 500, 400 and 300) are available on www.bookmyshow.com and at the following outlets: Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Landmark Koramangala and K C Das, St. Mark’s.
