Event TedxYouth will be held in the city on June 8

The capital city hosts the first ever independent ‘TEDxYouth’ event in the state on June 8 at Asian School of Business, Pallippuram. The event is from 1.15 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.

TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is a global annual event that brings together the world’s leading thinkers/doers to share ideas and concepts that matter in disciplines such as technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business and development. The speakers give the best talks of their lives in 18 minutes or less, which are later uploaded on TED.com and are made available to the public for free.

The TEDxYouth event is not organised by TED or TEDYouth (a programme held annually on November 20 for high school and college students, with live speakers, hands-on activities and great conversations). Instead, it is operated under a license from TED. TEDxYouth, meanwhile, is an independently organised TEDYouth event exclusively for the youth. At a TEDxYouth event, live speakers, TED videos, demonstrations and hands-on activities combine to inspire young minds. The TEDxYouth event in the city is based around the theme ‘Kaleidoscope’. The organising team is led by Akanksha Pandey, who has also taken the license from TED to conduct the event.

“We seek to create a platform that embraces divergence, stirs imaginations and leverages the sheer power of ideas to alter and mould opinions. Thus, it seeks to stimulate the growth of individuals, and in turn the society at large,” says Akanksha Pandey.

The speakers of the event are Ira Trivedi, novelist, entrepreneur, and speaker, Suhani Shah, illusionist, psychosomatic counsellor and founder of ‘Suhani Mindcare – Mind nourishing centre’, Shefali Kulkarni, an academician, teacher and advocate of gender inclusion, Vasundhara Das, singer and actor, Sreevas Sahasranamam, a doctoral student in Strategic Management at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, with four international journal publications to his credit, and Pulapre Balakrishnan, economist trained from Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
