EATING OUT Tilt Gastropub offers cocktails and cuisine with dollops of Indo-Western fusion

Tilt Gastropub, a newly-opened gastropub in Koramangala, offers handpicked cuisine and cocktails. The ambience is not particularly inviting, but the menu has some interesting items. We begin our meal with some refreshing mocktails and then are served the Tilt de-constructed salad, comprising kiwi, watermelon and spicy paneer. It is arranged like a Rubix Cube, and served in good amounts.

We then sample fish fingers with accompaniments of a yoghurt drink, which must be gulped down in one go. We were then served a curious combination of carrots, cucumber, thai herbs, thai seasoning, rice vinegar and soya sauce, all wrapped up and meant to be eaten like a paan . It gives an immediate rush to the head.

The Spankotta, one among chef Paully’s many innovations, is chicken and spinach stuffed in a deep fried pastry. “It tastes like Spanish samosa,” says a beaming Paully. An endless number of starters are served. One may expect a Gastropub to serve the regular pizzas, burgers and pastas, but Chef Paully strikes a balance between Western and Indian food. We appreciate the experimentation, even though it’s not always pleasant.

The main course, however, brightens our mood. The lamb risotto with saffron, walnut and porcini mushroom is nice. The lamb is finely done, through a painstaking procedure. We end our meal with chocolate brownies.

Tilt Gastropub is located at 99, ground floor, 4{+t}{+h}B Cross, 5{+t}{+h}Block, First Main Road, Koramanagala. For reservations, call 25530520.
