Celebrate Ugadi with a sumptuous meal, concerts or theatre
Hallimane will host its annual traditional Ugadi celebrations this year with a feast on April 6 and 7. Lunch is from noon to 3.30 p.m. and dinner from 7 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. The delicacies include traditional spring-time recipes like ibbudalu rasa, halasina kadabu, karibevu tambuli, ole kadubu, carrot chutney, mango chutney, huruli saaru, nellikai gojju, hayagreeva, and a range of over 30 dishes made of seasonal vegetables, fruits and sprouts. *** Ranga Shankara will celebrate Ranga Ugadi with a day-long celebration of theatre, literature, music and food. This year’s Ranga Ugadi is scheduled for April 6. the programme starts at 11 a.m. and will go on till 9 p.m.
There will be songs by Subhadramma Mansur, the doyenne of Kannada theatre, Kannada plays “Typical T.P. Kailasam”, “Sattavara Neralu” and “Neenaanaadrenaaneenena?” These shows are ticketed and will be staged in the auditorium. There will be a “Kavigoshti” with people like N.S.L. Bhatta, H.S. Venkatesha Murthy, Dalitakavi Siddhalingaiah and so on. The Ranga Shankara café will serve Ugadi specialities.
