Orissa Crafts Utsav at VJT Hall is on till June 6
Art and Crafts Exposition, a non-governmental organisation, dedicated to the development of Indian art and crafts, conducts an exhibition called ‘Orissa Crafts Utsav’ featuring crafts and weaves from Orissa at VJT Hall.
The handlooms from Orissa are well-known and the exhibition offers an exclusive collection of saris such as Ikat saris, Cuttack saris and Orissa bomkai saris. Appliqué worked garments and items are also available.
Patachitras (paintings on cloth) and paintings of palm leaves are another attraction. Silver filigree works, stone carvings, wood carvings and Dhokra casting items are some of the crafts from Orissa that are highlighted in the exhibition.
Handlooms and crafts from other States are also included in the exhibition.
From West Bengal come kantha and cotton saris, from Rajasthan, tops, kurtis and dupattas in rainbow colours, paintings and wooden articles and from Lucknow, chiken dress material to name a few. There is a 10 per cent discount on all handicrafts and a 20 per cent discount on handlooms.
The exhibition is on till June 6.
