Women are definitely better off than olden days in the roles they play. We are in the era where a woman is the president of India, but women in rural parts still silently suffer many hardships. A woman can become I.G. but without that professional tag she is not safe. Women themselves are partly responsible for this malady. For example if a daughter-in-law prefers family planning after a girl child, the mother-in-law orders her to wait for a male child. A mother herself undervalues a female life. Every girl child should be regarded an asset for the entire society.
