Here's a chance to draw up a plan for Tamil Nadu in 2020Chennai Sangamam, organised by Tamil Maiyam and the Department of Tourism and Culture, is promoting two causes — `Give Life' (a project to reach out to street children) and `Green Chennai' (planting of saplings, sowing seed balls and eco awareness efforts). As part of the event, Tamil Maiyam invites papers from corporate leaders, academics, experts, bureaucrats, activists and interested citizens on how Tamil Nadu should become by 2020. It could either be a vision plan encompassing various fields or a vision for a particular field (eg. education, industry, human resources or rural transformation). The paper should not only set a vision but elaborate on an action plan road map. The document should not be less than five pages and more than 20 pages. A panel will select the best three presenters who will be awarded the "Master Visionary" title, a citation and a shield. Essay contestBesides, Tamil Maiyam is conducting an essay contest for school and college students on "Tamil Nadu 2020." This has to be a vision paper on the same model as the Master Visionary Award. Students of Standard 9, 10, 11 and 12 are eligible under a single category. Three winners will be given a citation, `Student Visionary' title and a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 1,000 respectively. Three winners from the college students category will get a citation, `Young Visionary' title and a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 1,000 respectively.
