Pottermania is back again as the date for the release of the book is set

First came the title: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, then came the date of the release of the book: July 21, 2007, and now comes the helpline: Coz, two important characters are going to die. J. K. Rowling couldn't have asked for more as all this has translated into an unheard of tizzy in the book world and the online communities. From the analysis of the word Hallows to rumours and guesses about the two characters, the online chatterati is abuzz. According to Rachna Kalra of Penguin India, the hardbound book will cost Rs. 975. That's no deterrent for Potter fans as one X standard student said "I'll save," when told about the price. Inside Walden, the man counting the money doesn't know how much the book will cost but ask if you can pre-order the fix. "Take out the book," he asks his aide and out comes a notebook that already has three names Akshita and Vikram with their phone numbers. Predictably, there is no tracking of pre-orders in India, but in UK it has toted up 100,000 pre-orders at one online shop, while in the US, it is topping the charts of both Amazon.com as well as Barnes and Noble. This, with five months to go for the book to hit the market: Exactly at 6 a.m., July 21 (Saturday). The deluxe Half-Blood Prince, according to Scholastic, includes a 32-page insert of art and illustrations, a "custom-designed slipcase," and a "full-cloth case book, blind-stamped on front and back cover, foil stamped on spine."It was only a few weeks back that the date for release of Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix was (July 13) announced along with a promo of the movie. So, for the Potterised community, it is going to be double delight in July with the sobering thought that Harry Potter will be no more.SERISH NANISETTI
