Twenty-five year old US sprinter Tyson Gay joined compatriot Maurice Greene as the only athletes to win gold medals in the 100 metres, 200 metres and sprint relay at the world athletic championships. Former sprint star Maurice Greene had done it in 1999. Gay who started off as an outstanding high school athlete at Lexington, Kentucky, has ‘personal best’ timings of 9.84 seconds and 19.62 seconds in the two sprint events.
