The Dharwad peda is a Kannada sweet which has been around for more than a century and was accorded a Geographical Indication tag. The sweet traces its origin to the Thakur family which migrated from Uttar Pradesh. It is also known as the Line Bazaar peda after the street on which the patriarch Ram Ratan Singh Thakur established his shop. The recipe is a closely guarded secret. The ingredients are milk, sugar and thickened milk.
