M anav Gangwani has a way with clothes. His clientele boasts of Bollywood A-listers, who time and again oblige to walk the ramp for him. At the recent India Couture Week in Mumbai, he stole the show with a collection predominantly in whites and off whites contrasted by red. Not long ago, at the Delhi Couture Week, he presented his collection `Timeless', and accentuated it with the stage setting that had a zodiac wall and a pendulum.

Can we expect a surprise element when he showcases his collection in the city on Friday? “That was couture and I oversaw the creative — sets, models and all. Whereas, for Hyderabad, I will be only required to present my collection since the other areas will be looked upon by the organisers.”

His collection, he reveals, is targeted more towards prêt and diffusion. “Based on this, there will be a huge difference between my couture show and the one I showcase at the Signature Premier World of Eight International Fashion Tour. It will definitely be a festive collection. Even though it's prêt and diffusion, expect the bling element of Manav Gangwani,” he says with a smile.

Over the years, Hyderabad has come to be a lucrative market for designers and Manav is no exception. He says about his clientele in the city, “Some of my most special clients are from Hyderabad and it's a pleasure working with them.” He mentions designing for the “Reddys, Sethis and Ravadjees!”

Manav designs for both men and women and particularly likes to experiment with European silhouettes in his bridal wear. He observes, “Today, marriages are held on a far larger scale. Everything is about opulence and the modern day bride is willing to experiment with colours and styles. This is why a designer can go all out and let his imagination rule.”

Besides showing in Hyderabad on September 23, he will also be presenting his collection in Bangalore on September 30.
